School Climate Surveys
Educational reform is far too expensive in terms of money and effort to continue implementation in the haphazard manner that occurs in many school districts. Before implementing change or reform, a concerted effort should be made to determine whether it has a reasonable chance of succeeding.
IOD believes it is important to gain an understanding of how people actually experience change. The information about school climate can help identify those schools that are ready to implement reform and those that are not. When the school climate is right, people are inspired to do their best. Teachers and students do what needs to be done to stimulate learning and as a result, achievement generally rises.
School climate is a key factor that is frequently associated with student achievement. IOD has identified a number of core variables relevant to measuring school climate that have been shown to be relevant to student achievement. As a result, IOD has developed a valid and reliable survey process that will measure the current status of school climate as perceived by students, teachers, administrators, and parents.
IOD will work with an entire district or a single school to develop a comprehensive strategy to measure school climate from the perspective of each of its key stakeholders. Our report will pinpoint school climate issues that are of the highest level of concern. Our benchmarking capabilities will enable the district and/or school to determine exactly how much progress is being made toward improving school climate and eventually student achievement.
IOD has in-depth experience and a proven track record in measuring school climate and can help you to create a winning school climate that provides a solid foundation for a sound educational environment.
